Hello, Chris speaking. So many of you may be thinking, that the New York Knicks had a big improvement from last year. That everything is said and done and everythings fine.
Well, i'm here to prove you wrong. You fans are proud of a 25-31 record?
As a Knick fan for most of my life, I am down right ashamed.
Since Larry Brown has gone, along with the dismal 23-49 record that came with him, Isiah thomas has tried to fulfill the role as GM and Coach.
As a coach, he has made many foolish decisions.
Many of you may disagree with me, but he has done a better job being a GM.
I mean, look at it this way. Aside for the 100 something million dollars he has added to our payroll, just look at the talent this team is being built around.
Promising young stars include: Lee, who is currently leading in most of the stats for second year players, Frye, who continues to be a young gun, i would not say a phenom, but also is an important part of this team playing, and trading wise, Nate Robinson, a young, but energetic fellow, who always adds spart to the much needed Knick bench, Renaldo Balkman, who continues to help the knicks, and almost always gets the crowd started and finds his way to the basket, and lastly, Mardy Collins, who has not been producing like we had expected, but sees a bright future ahead.
This is only what Isiah has done recently in the draft.
The Veterans that he had obtained include: Stephon Marbury, self-proclaimed "Starbury", who has been leading the knicks for the time he has stayed here, Jamal Crawford, a young veteran who is currently one of the leading scorers of the Knicks, including a 52-point outing this season, Steve Francis, a 2 time all-star if im not mistaken who has'nt been producing and has been plagued with injury, but as the season progresses, will continue to get better, and finally Eddy Curry, who is earning his name as the best Knick player, who is averaging almost 20 and 7 this season. Just to add, taht he is still very young.
Isiah Thomas has also added a solid bench, including a starter- quality player in Quentin Richardson, who is one of our most promising defenders and a threat from the three point line, and Jared Jeffries, the newly acquired player who can play all 5 positions and is getting used to the atmosphere around this Knick team.
But all this, and then some, has equaled to 25 wins?!
We are leading the league in turnovers, and we are one of the worst salary- wise team to ever hit the books.
But yet, their are bright spots, such as the Eddy Curry, and that we are leading the league in Rebounds, but many still dont get what flaws we obtain.
Well, last season may have been dismal, but Larry Brown showed something that Isiah Thomas lacks.
Discipline. The players that we have had complained about Brown, who had not let them play, and had to get used to the "Larry Brown" atmosphere, but they just werent getting used to the discipline that he had.
Now, Isiah Thomas lets them play their own way, and i still havent seen improvement from last year's gameplay. We still have a big rotation, we continue to get blown out by the worst records in the NBA.
Every game i turn on MSG, i see Isiah praising the Knicks on how "good they played", and im downright sick of it.
When Zeke explained the reasons of the blowout loss to Philadelphia a couple of games ago, that was the first time i've ever heard him say "Talent" and "flew out the window" in the same phrase.
The players that the Knicks obtain is downright special, but the chemistry we lack gets in teh way of playing a decent game.
Here's a thought to think about: After the Denver-NY brawl, the NYK were reduced to a 9- man rotation, durign the 5 game span, we played our best basketball of the season. As the players came back from tehir suspensions, the Knicks got progressively worse.
Now i like the method that Isiah is using now, keeping Lee and Frye on the bench as spark plugs, and having James get his minutes alongside Eddy Curry to make one BIG frontcourt in the league. lee is getting his biggest numbers off the bench, and I praise Isiah for that.
The only things i would improve of the Knicks are Discipline, and Chemistry. These two flaws stand in the way of being a 40 + game winning team. That and free-throw shooting :).
But during the next span of years, i will see improvement, hopefully, and our budget go down.
Our only goal for this season is to ake the playoffs, and thats the only thing that would keep me and many other fans contented. But going on more is fine too :)
So before you optimistic Knick fans think that we are doing well, read this article. Hopefully this will be a good luck charm and cause the Knicsk to win.
